I like the Sackboy Collectable. I think its the first real piece of LittleBigPlanet merch in Canberra (let alone Australia). It was cheap too, but what I really want is a plushie, and I’m guessing I’m not the only one…

My Lightning figure finally arrived from Tamarket on Friday, apparently they had been caught up with moving stuff from the Supanova conventions, which is understandable. It’s a nice figure, of pretty good detail and quality, with my only complaints being with the hair and how some of the joints appear. Aesthetics has been sacrificed for extra movement, but I really do like it nonetheless.

I’m kind of disappointed with the lack of free time I really have at the moment. I’ve started to watch Cowboy Bebop, and am averaging about 1 episode/session a week, which sucks… I’ve also picked up Resonance of Fate for PS3 and the two Otacool books (otaku rooms and world-wide cosplayers) but I guess they will have to wait until either a rainy day, or a uni break for me to enjoy them. Oh wells…

I have fairly decent plans for tomorrow, up early for the ANZAC day Dawn Service here in Canberra and then going to the Raiders match in the afternoon. Hopefully I’ll be able to sneak a bit of photography at each…

I’ve been searching for other figures I might want to order, however I am finding that new figures are either too expensive, or just hard to find. Plus I really haven’t watched many anime series, so there are a limited number of figures that I am trying to hunt down. It’s also kinda difficult to find figures locally (Australia), a lot of the figures I am ordering are having to be imported straight from Japan.

I just finished watching the Fullmetal Alchemist series (plus the Conqueror of Shamballa feature). I’m trying to hunt down an Alphonse amour figure, but again, they are either too expensive or just poor quality.

I’m currently watching Cowboy Bebop at the moment and have Chrono Crusade lined up for afterwards.

Anyway, to Saber:

I finally managed to reach my interim goal weight, so the only thing that is standing in-between my ordering of a Welkin Gunther Cosplay is finding a flat to live in. Hopefully, with at least a half-dozen property inspections lined up this week, that shouldn’t be too far away. If I reach my goal of moving out before my birthday, I might even be able to buy it as a birthday present to myself!

I used an Australian based importer called Tamarket. Usually I will order off Ebay, through a seller actually based in Japan, however, I thought I should test out someone local, mainly to encourage the local stores, but also to test out whether ordering locally makes things easier. IT DOES.

I managed to send out the order for the two figures on first morning of the trip, the order had arrived, via express post, when I got home the following day. A one day turn around, something impossible when ordering overseas. Tamarket’s prices were fairly reasonable as well, so I have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone in Australia wanting to order anime figures.

Anyway, to the figures:

I am absolutely looking forward to the release of Valkyria Chronicles 2 later in the year, it is on my list of the four ‘must buy’ games for this year (others being Bioshock 2, Final Fantasy XIII and Gran Turismo 5, if it is ever released…).

The dead line is just 10 days away. I think I have managed to progress at least two, possibly three of the goals I set in the Transitions post. With the final (fourth) goal dependent on be finding a place to live. Again, so far, so good.

My new Figma Saber figure arrived today. I must admit, I am very impressed with Japan Post. Ordered the figure on Sunday, sent Monday, arrived Thursday morning. That’s between Shibuya Tokyo and Canberra Australia. Not bad, especially with tracking the whole way…

Here is my makeshift miniature lightning studio for my miniature figures. I knew my semiconductors text would be useful for something…

One more figure and I think I get deemed a collector.

I did find the Figma Saber a lot more delicate compared to the Revoltech Saber I’ve posted earlier. It’s a little more fiddly to get Saber into the poses that I wanted, but Figma does give you a lot more flexibility in how she can be moved around, even before being able to interchange faces, hair, hands and swords. Whilst I do like the facial expression from the Revoltech figure better, I would highly recommend the Figma version just due to the options it gives.

The Fate series always said that Saber was a representation of King Arthur, which I always thought was weird, mainly due to the fact that she was indeed a girl. Before her history was revealed, I was certain that she would most likely represent Joan of Arc (thinking Jeanne d’Arc). I think theres something about a cute girl warrior, whether real or fictional…

I currently work in a field involved with the Renewable Energy sector here in Australia. Whilst I lack the money to put a full blown solar PV system on my roof, I like collecting solar powered gadgets, whether solar collectors, or things like Solar Radiometers. Solio was the first (and probably my favourite) solar charger I have purchased. I don’t use it as much as I should, but the times that I do, I allows me to feel good to know that my iPhone or PSP is running of renewable energy.

Also, just a couple more test shots from the garden, as I gradually hone my skills at the 20mm lens.

Well, its now Saturday afternoon… whilst I didn’t quite get out and about as much as I would have liked to be able to test out the camera, its starting to storm here, I did have quite a productive day. I have working on some of the left over reports I needed to write up after my recent work trip, but I managed to get them done faster that I thought I would, whilst sitting in front of the TV watching the cricket at the same time. Not a bad day… and it’s only SATURDAY!
